A Taste of Tradition: Mom's Recipe Unveiled

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of whole milk
  • 1 box of vanilla pudding mix
  • At Least 3 full ripe bananas
  • 1 box of vanilla wafer cookies
  • 1 8oz tub of Cool Whip
  • 1 8oz tub of Sour Cream
  • A pinch of love and nostalgia

Kitchen Utensils:

  • 2 spoons
  • electric mixer or whisk
  • a 12 or 13x9in cake pan with a lid (pan can be aluminum, plastic, wooden, or metal - just remember you will be setting it in the fridge at the end for long periods of time)
  • Washcloth/dish towel or paper towels to clean any messes during or after making the pudding.
  • Large mixing bowl
  • A pinch of love and nostalgia

Instructions:

Preparation:

  • Step 1: Make sure you have all your ingredients and tools.

  • Step 2: Prepare the vanilla pudding mixture in your mixing bowl according to the instructions on the back of the box. After completing the vanilla pudding mixture, refrigerate it for 6 minutes.

  • Step 3: After chilling the mixture in the fridge for 6 minutes, remove it to proceed with preparing the pudding. Take your 8oz sour cream and add it to the mixture, stirring until all lumps disappear. When using an electric mixer, set it to the lowest two speeds to prevent splattering the mixture and making a mess.

  • Step 4: Incorporate the 8oz of cool whip into the mixture, ensuring to blend until all lumps disappear. If employing an electric mixer, utilize the two lowest speeds to mix gently and prevent any mess or splattering.

Layering:

  • Step 5: Position your cake pan on a stable, level surface. There is no requirement to apply any spray to the pan. Arrange a foundation of vanilla wafer cookies in the cake pan, ensuring they cover the bottom as thoroughly as possible.

  • Step 6: Once the cookies have been arranged, top each one with a small piece of banana.

  • Step 7: Pour half of the pudding mixture that has been chilled over the layer of bananas, then proceed to add another layer of cookies and bananas.

  • Step 8: Pour the rest of the pudding mixture onto the second layer of cookies and bananas. Use a spoon or flat spatula to spread the mixture evenly before covering the pan with the lid.

Chill:

  • Step 9: Allow the pudding to refrigerate for a minimum of one hour to allow the flavors to blend. For optimal results and to enable the cookies to soften, refrigerate the pudding overnight before consumption.
