Invisible Girl - A Poem

Dedication
To the girls who have ever felt unseen,
Your stories matter, your voices echo in the silence. This poem is for you, the ones who navigate the world with grace, yet feel like shadows in the brilliance of others. You are not alone, and I hope you find solace in these words.
May you recognize the beauty within you, the gems that lie just beneath the surface. Remember, you are more than the whispers of glass; you are a vibrant tapestry of strength and resilience. Let this poem be a reminder that you are worthy of being seen, cherished, and celebrated.
With love and understanding,
Mikayla Young
Invisible Girl
She walks the aisles of life, a whisper of glass,
As others drift by,
Seeing right through her, like stained glass.
Yet I glimpse the light in her hands and eyes,
Amid the gathering gray of the skies.
She paints glass roses on a stone,
Where fragments of her world stand frozen in time.
Yes, she’s the invisible girl,
The one overlooked—
But I see her.
Yes, I see her.
In a small town bustling with noise,
She’s a quiet book,
A story waiting to be found on the shelf.
I read her smile and subtle ways,
Right there in a diner on Millie’s Avenue,
And thought to myself—
Darlin’, you’re only invisible
Until you’ve been truly seen.
And I see her.
I see her in the small town I’m settling into now.
As quiet as a mouse,
Yet beautiful as a muse,
Waiting to be held and known
Beyond the cover page
That others merely glance at,
Rushing past to another time and place.
But not me—
For, invisible girl, I must have seen you in my dreams.
Feels like I’ve waited my whole life
For the girl who seems invisible to the world,
Yet can read and write me
With just a few glances and fleeting exchanges—
Like nothing I’ve ever known before.
Maybe this time the light will shine
Through the glass of time,
And we will stand together—
Invisible to the world,
But visible to each other.
Just an invisible girl
And the boy who took the time
To notice and truly see her—
Both of us dancing in the summer rain,
To the song playing on the radio,
Telling the tale of how fate played its hand
In writing our love story,
Out in the country landscape of a small town,
Here in the heart of the USA.
