Hello, my name is Mikayla. I am a 25-year-old reader from a small town in Tennessee. I have a bachelor's degree in English Literature (obtained in 2023) and started this book blog and my bookstragram in 2024.

I enjoy reading fantasy, romance, mythology, folklore, retellings, and fiction literature. I enjoy reading books that teach or guide readers through the world, mythology/folklore, cultures, and life. I read books for all ages, from children to adults, because I believe it is important for people of all ages to be able to read novels that inspire and instruct them while taking them to fantastic worlds similar to our own. I try to diversify my reading by reading recommendations from other readers, books set in different parts of the world, written by authors of various backgrounds and nationalities, and books that are outside of my comfort zone (mystery, horror, thriller, nonfiction), because I believe that reading widely can teach you a lot about the world and the various cultures and people that inhabit it. Furthermore, you never know when a book outside of your comfort zone will surprise you in the best manner.

I enjoy sharing my own book reviews and seeing other readers' recommendations, statistics, and challenges to diversify and embrace the value of reading. I actively review books on a variety of platforms, including Goodreads, Storygraph, Fable, Instagram [@mikaylascreatives], Facebook, and Bookbub. After a book is published, I also post reviews on Amazon. I share bookish stuff such as book reviews, read around the world challenge books, and more on my Facebook page, Instagram, and book blog.

- In Regards to Arc Requests and Reading to Review Times-
I only request arcs that I am interested in. I review the synopsis, cover, and author profile. I prefer to look at the author websites of any book I'm considering requesting because I want to learn more about the author, their story, and what they have to say about the writing process and the book itself. I attempt to read every arc that is approved within 2-4 weeks of receiving and downloading it. 

I am also an Amazon self-published author, with 2 poetry/short story collections and a debut novel available. You can learn more about my books and my author journey on my author website.
I want to help more authors by reading and supporting their books on social media and offline through friends, family, and my local community.

Overall, I enjoy reading and reviewing books because it broadens my knowledge and appreciation for the world and its people, as well as allowing me to communicate with people from all over the world on a variety of themes.
