Mikayla's Bookish Star Rating Review Guide
Every reader and person has their own ranking system for various things, including reading and books, which is absolutely great. I'm sharing my rating guide so that anyone who reads my reviews and ratings can get a better grasp of how I evaluate and review books.
A bit of info
Before delving into the meaning of each star rating, I add a few words at the beginning. I give a rating of .5 stars on all review, but for Goodreads, I round down to the nearest whole number while including my full rating with the .5 in the review section. I use the CAWPILE rating review system developed by BookRoast to assess my books dividing them into specific sections: Characters, Atmosphere, Writing, Plot, Intrigue, Logic/Lessons, and Enjoyment. I approach a book with an open mind, taking notes on my likes and dislikes as I read it After completing the book, I rank each part in CAWPILE on a 1-10 scale based on development, interest, and overall enjoyment, taking my notes into account. I strive to be respectful in my reviews to authors, editors, publishers, and fellow readers, as I enjoy seeing how different people can read the same book, have different perspectives, and still respect and encourage each other's reading preferences, interests, types, and speeds.
